Swami Lakshman Joo
Living lineage of Kashmir · 20th century · Kashmir Shaivism · The Secret Supreme
The last great master of the living Kashmiri lineage, who carried the oral transmission down to our own day.
The essence of the teaching: This is not a philosophy for the mind, but an experience for the heart. The supreme consciousness is recognized in the subtle gaps – between two thoughts, between the in-breath and the out-breath, in a moment of pure wonder.
Transmission
Lakshman Joo was born in Kashmir and lived within this teaching from childhood – the last to receive the full oral transmission from teacher to disciple. He would repeat: Kashmir Shaivism cannot be learned, it can only be lived. He pointed to the most elusive thing of all – the gaps. To the split second between a thought departing and a thought arriving. To the quiet point where the in-breath becomes the out-breath. To the moment of pure wonder when the mind goes still before beauty. In these crevices, he said, the supreme consciousness shines, veiled by nothing. Do not seek it in special states – it is already here, in the gaps of your ordinary day.
The full transmission — for members of the School. Here is its essence and its taste.
