Moses Cordovero
Kabbalah of Safed · the systematizer · Pardes Rimonim · the Orchard of Pomegranates
The mind that gathered scattered Kabbalah into an ordered garden – teacher to a whole generation of Safed.
The essence of the teaching: The ten sefirot are not separate gods but facets of a single light, like the colors within one ray. The Infinite reveals itself through them while remaining one. Imitate these qualities – and you yourself become a vessel of light.
Transmission
Cordovero was a great orderer of things: he took the overflowing sea of Kabbalah and gathered it into a system a student could grasp. The ten sefirot, he explained, are not ten powers but one radiance, refracted like light through facets of glass. Mercy and judgment, wisdom and kingdom – these are the faces of one. And a human being is fashioned in that same image. Would you draw near the Source? Then imitate its qualities: be merciful, as the sefirah of mercy is merciful; be patient; forgive before you are asked. In doing so, you yourself grow transparent, and the light passes through you into the world.
