Anandamayi Ma
Bhakti · without formal lineage · Words of the Mother
"The Mother filled with joy" – she who lived in a constant bliss of unity and taught by her presence alone.
The essence of the teaching: The Divine is both within and without; duality is only appearance. Through devotion and self-inquiry the border between "I" and "Thou" is erased, and the original unity opens.
Transmission
Anandamayi Ma had no teacher – she lived in bliss from earliest childhood, and people came simply to be near her. She said: the highest reality is unity, and the many exist within the one, and the one within the many. Do not seek God somewhere far away – He is in you, and in everything you see. Cast off the difference between "I" and "you," and the truth reveals itself. Devotion is not a rite but a way to melt the ice of separateness, until only joy remains, that very joy which is your nature.
