Sarada Devi
The Holy Mother · consort and disciple of Ramakrishna · Conversations with the Holy Mother
A quiet woman whose motherly love turned no one away. The silent heart of the lineage.
The essence of the teaching: The whole world is your family. Do not seek another's fault: learn to see the whole world as your own. Peace comes not from knowledge but from a love that leaves no one outside.
Transmission
Sarada Devi taught almost nothing in words – she taught by the way she lived. When the fallen came to her, cast out by all, she fed them and called them her children, asking nothing of their past. Her chief counsel was tender and hard: if you want peace, do not look for others' faults – look for your own; and learn to see the whole world as your own, for no one is a stranger. Ramakrishna revered in her a living Mother-Goddess, and after his passing it was her quiet, all-accepting love that held the whole young community, as a mother holds her children.
