Lahiri Mahasaya
Kriya Yoga · reviver of the lineage · Talks and instructions
A householder and a clerk who returned Kriya to the world and proved: the path is open even amid worldly life.
The essence of the teaching: Cleanse the mind of worldly noise and seek Truth through meditation and Kriya Yoga. The infinite and the finite coexist within one human being.
Transmission
Lahiri Mahasaya did not retreat into the forest – he worked, raised a family, and stayed deeply awake through all of it. By this he overturned the ancient rule that liberation belongs only to hermits. Having received Kriya from Babaji in the Himalayas, he began to give it to all who were sincere, without caste or rank. His instruction was simple: each day sit, calm the mind, and practice the technique – and the Truth that seems so far off will be found right here, in the very breath. Reverence and the direct perception of God he held to be not the reward of a chosen few, but the fruit of faithful, quiet, daily work.
